Most Sporting Team 2012/2013 – Vote Now!
Filed Under Sportsmanship | Comments Off on Most Sporting Team 2012/2013 – Vote Now!
Each year the VSL asks the captains of every team in every division to send us their choice for the most sporting team in their division. This is the team that may have the best referees, the best dinners, the endless full pints, the most honest players or something that sets them apart from all the other teams.
Captains, ask your team who they want to vote for and then send your vote (one vote per team please) to info[at]vancouversquashleague[dot]com
Votes will be accepted until Sunday, March 3rd at 9pm: Be sure to include your team name and division. Winning teams will be presented their plaques at the Wrap Party.

Family Day is February 11, 2013
Filed Under Announcements, Info for Captains, Info for players, Schedules | Comments Off on Family Day is February 11, 2013
Captains and players,
It has come to our attention that the civic holiday “Family Day”, which is Monday February 18th across the country, is actually planned for Monday February 11th in British Columbia.
Open divisions 2 – 6 are the only divisions that will be affected.
Div 1 is on an 8 team cycle and has to play on Monday Feb 11 and Monday Feb 18th as their 8 team division needs to complete more matches. The women’s divisions and Open Div 7 play on Tuesdays so are not affected.
All “Feb 11” dates have been switched to “Feb 18” on the QuickDraw schedules. Please double check your start times.
Thanks and sorry for the confusion.

Non-Member Penalty Points
Filed Under Info for Captains, Rules | Comments Off on Non-Member Penalty Points
The deadline to have your team players signed up with Squash BC has passed. That date was Oct 31 but we’ve given everyone an extra one week grace period but the automatic one point penalty is now in effect. Also note that in addition to the one (1) penalty point, the non-member cannot record ANY points for games won.
Captains have ONE WEEK to have their non-member renew their Squash BC membership in order to have the penalty removed and any points reinstated.
4.2.2 A player who, when they play for a team, is a “non-member” (defined as someone without a Squash BC membership), will not be able to record ANY points for a match. This “non-member” will be recorded on the match score as a “Default/Guest” and the team will receive an automatic one point penalty. This penalty will go into effect immediately after the October 31st grace period (for clubs to sign up all players with Squash BC) and is reversible if the player is signed up with Squash BC within one week of playing. (If the “Default/Guest” was used as a result of a missing player the captain can apply to have the penalty point removed, within one week of playing, by contacting the League Coordinator. It is expected that captains inform the other team’s captain, in advance, if they will be unable to field a complete roster.)

There are two scoring sheets needed for league play. The first is for keeping score of a single game and the second is for recording the night’s matches.
Captains should download both PDFs.
